In Mexico, only 16% of cybersecurity roles are held by women.
Microsoft has expand its Cybersecurity Skills initiative to Argentina, Chile, Indonesia, and Spain by enabling training resources, funding, and collaborating with nonprofit organizations and ucational institutions to train the next generation of cybersecurity professionals .

According to Microsoft’s Digital Defense Report , there are currently around 921 password attacks every second, a 74% annual growth in just one year.

The average cost of a cyber breach also increas , reaching $4.35 million. As a result, the demand for cybersecurity skills has grown by 35% over the past year.

Microsoft report that in Mexico it has increas by 33% in the last year.

This opens an opportunity to close the gender gap in the industry, encouraging the participation of women in cybersecurity positions .

In the country, gender disparity shows that 84% of security personnel are men, and only 16% of roles correspond to the female gender.

In this context, expanding Microsoft’s training program to more countries will help women enter the cybersecurity workforce , taking into account that addressing diversity gaps requires internationality in program design and execution, and therefore creating more inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Lupina Loperena , director of philanthropy at Microsoft Mexico, said that economic and technological changes are generating pressure on today’s workforce.
